WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. State Department said on Friday it fully expects to finalize new trade exemptions for the AUKUS defense project with Australia and Britain over the next 120 days. "Exemptions in our export control systems, within a framework of shared standards with Australia and the UK, are key to harnessing and maximizing the innovative power residing in our defense industrial bases," a department statement said. "We fully expect to finalize the new trade exemptions – based on stakeholder input – over the course of the next 120 days," it said.

Alphabet Inc's Google on Friday said it will roll back requirements that U.S. suppliers and staffing firms pay their employees at least $15 an hour and provide health insurance and other benefits, a move that could allow the tech giant to avoid bargaining with unions. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has designated two of the most commonly used "forever chemicals" as hazardous substances under the federal Superfund law, in a bid to clean up properties across the United States that are contaminated with the toxic compounds.
