Harry Styles appears to honour Caroline Flack with black ribbon at Brit Awards

Harry Styles appeared to pay tribute to his late ex-girlfriend Caroline Flack on the red carpet at the Brit Awards with a ribbon of mourning.

On Tuesday, the singer arrived at London’s O2 arena for the awards ceremony with a black ribbon attached to the lapel of his Gucci suit, which he paired with a purple sweater, purple nails and a pearl necklace.

The ribbon, which typically symbolises mourning, appears to be in memory of Flack, who died on Saturday at the age of 40.

On social media, the Watermelon Sugar singer’s gesture prompted an outpouring of support.

“Total respect to Harry Styles for wearing a black ribbon in honour of Caroline Flack,” one person tweeted.

Another said: “Harry Styles has a black ribbon in remembrance of Caroline… Watch me start crying.”

The former One Direction star, 26, and the former Love Island presenter previously dated in 2011.

Of the brief relationship, Flack had written in her autobiography Storm in a C Cup that “we were both single, we got on well and we had a laugh”.

“It was only when it became public knowledge that things turned sour,” the TV host wrote.

While Styles has not spoken publicly following Flack’s death, his mother Anne Twist shared a tribute to the former ITV host on Instagram, where she captioned a poem: “May you have found your peace.”
