Tennessee linebacker Aaron Beasley was suspended indefinitely on Monday night amid allegations that he abused a 6-month-old cat, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Beasley, who recorded seven total tackles last season in three games for the Volunteers, has not been charged with a crime, though the incident is still under investigation.

"We have received the incident report from the Knoxville Police Department," The team said in a statement, via the Knoxville News Sentinel. "Aaron Beasley has been suspended indefinitely from all football team activities as we await further information."

Beasley allegedly abused his girlfriend’s roommate’s cat

The cat is currently being treated at an animal hospital in Knoxville, and was diagnosed with a small concussion and kidney failure, per the report. The cat belongs to Kaylee Scarbrough, who lived with Beasley’s girlfriend, Zoe Phillips, and another woman.

Scarbrough, per the report, was moving out of the apartment on Wednesday and left the cat behind. After returning on Thursday, the cat was hiding under a dresser and wouldn't walk or stand up.

Phillips, per the report, told police that she and Beasley returned from the store late Wednesday night and found the cat in her room eating their food. Beasley then allegedly locked the cat in a bathroom for nearly four hours.

The third roommate, per the report, told police that she heard Phillips crying and tell Beasley that “you can’t do that.” She also told police that Phillips texted her saying that Beasley had put the cat into the toilet. He also allegedly “hit and kicked” the cat and “locked him in the toilet bowl and held him upside down by the tail.”

Scarborough, per the report, said the cat now has “brain damage and will now have a hard time walking,” and has “a bleeding hemorrhage on his kidney caused from internal bleeding from being kicked, clots in his bladder, and is currently in an oxygen tank."
