Sports world pays tribute to boxer Patrick Day on social media after his death
The sports world is reeling after the death of boxer Patrick Day, who died on Wednesday due to brain trauma he suffered in a fight on Saturday.
Day sustained head injuries in his fight with Charles Conwell in Chicago, and was knocked unconscious almost instantly after Conwell delivered a knockout blow in the 10th round. Medical staff treated Day in the ring before transporting him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He reportedly suffered a seizure before arriving at the hospital, and then fell into a coma.
Day was removed from life support on Wednesday, and died later that afternoon. He was 27.
Plenty in the sports world took to social media Wednesday afternoon to pay tribute to the fallen boxer.
Rest In Peace Patrick Day... Fighters put their lives on the line for the love of the sport. Prayers to the family 🙏🏽
