Hurricane Ian: Florida grapples with ‘500-year flood’

After making landfall in Southwest Florida as a Category 4 storm, Hurricane Ian has caused severe flooding in the Sunshine State and left millions of residents without power. Footage captured on the ground shows continued rescue attempts, devastation and many Floridians coming to terms with what Gov. Ron DeSantis described as a “500-year flood event.”

- So that's my grandparents' house, that one right there on the ground. This is a house from across the street at the beach. Somebody's RV came in our backyard. That's our pool. That's our deck. That was my house. My house is gone.

RON DESANTIS: The amount of water that's been rising and will likely continue to rise today, even as the storm is passing, is basically a 500-year flood event.
