Hollyoaks' John Paul attacked by PC Kiss in coercive control plot

John Paul McQueen was physically abused by his boyfriend PC George Kiss in the latest chapter of Hollyoaks' dark coercive control storyline.
PC Kiss (Callum Kerr) has been slowly taking more control of John Paul's (James Sutton) life ever since they got together, isolating him from his family and from ex-boyfriend James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan).
In recent episodes, PC Kiss' job has been threatened by John Paul's long-time friend Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox), leading to an explosive argument between the latter two in Thursday's (January 7) first-look episode.
Nancy had lodged a formal complaint over how George and his fellow police officers treated Charlie (Charlie Behan) and the other kids while investigating the County Lines.
"Someone has to take responsibility for what's happened, and if George gets dragged into it, then so be it," Nancy insisted.
John Paul was mortified to see the two at odds, so he stood aside silently as they went head-to-head. Later, PC Kiss was enraged that John Paul didn't leap to his defence against Nancy.
PC Kiss tried to degrade his partner by saying that John Paul only got his job as a teacher because of Sally, while he was "doing the really hard stuff" to protect the community.
John Paul argued back that PC Kiss took him away from his family when they needed him most and shut down his questions about Jordan's death, but George viciously punched John Paul when he was told to "back off".
The episode concluded with PC Kiss walking away, while a stunned John Paul tried to reckon with what had just happened.
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Fridays at 7pm on E4.
