Children in San Antonio Receive First Pfizer Doses After Approval of Pediatric COVID Vaccine

Therapy dogs accompanied children ages 5-11 receiving their first doses of the newly approved pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio on Wednesday, November 3.

Video shared by the hospital shows a young girl receiving her shot as a dog sits on the chair next to her at the Goldsbury Center for Children and Families Wednesday morning. The San Antonio hospital wrote on Twitter that it was “excited” to expand access to the vaccines to young kids.

The FDA and CDC authorized the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine for children between the ages of 5 and 11, which could be given at any of “tens of thousands of locations including pharmacies, pediatricians’ offices, schools, and more,” the White House said.
