Woman Rescues Stray Kitten Amid Massive Shelter Overpopulation Crisis

This kitten looks so grateful to be home.

It's not exactly news that there are overpopulated animal shelters across the United States, but not even those numbers account for the thousands of stray animals on the streets. The problem is likely much larger than we realize, but we'll sleep better tonight knowing that there's one less kitten waiting for her forever home. Her new mum is even using her adoption to raise awareness about stray cats in North Carolina!

@Littlefootxo89 was on her way back to work when she found a family of stray cats, but she connected with one kitten instantly. As you'll see from her TikTok video, the rest was history!

We completely understand why @littlefootxo89 couldn't walk away from this baby! Her cuteness alone would be enough to purr-suade us, but the fact that she chose her new mom over her family put us over the edge. Someone pass the tissues, please!

"Ush. Why can’t a black cat come up to me and choose me?" @maiaxcasualty asked. That would be a dream come true! Of course, it's a lot of work to help a pet adjust to life in a new home, but it's so worth it to build a life together. These commenters seem to think it's especially worth it for a black cat, though.

@Willintheworld1 said, "Black cats are literally the best kind of cats and somehow people don’t know!" Right? It's truly heartbreaking how many black-colored animals are ignored in shelters and rescues because of superstition. We'd argue that it's actually lucky to cross paths with a black cat like this baby!
