In a shocking announcement this afternoon, Buckingham Palace shared that Thomas Kingston, the husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor and son-in-law of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, had passed away at age 45.

"The King and The Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said in a statement. "In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thought sand prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."

Kingston married into the British royal family in 2019 in a wedding at Windsor Castle, and has attended numerous events with the royals, including the Royal Ascot 2023 (pictured above). He also attended Wimbledon last summer with his wife, sitting in the royal box:

In a statement, Gabriella, Kingston's parents, and sisters said, "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing."

Kingston was found dead in Gloucestershire on Sunday evening, and emergency services were called to the scene. It is understood that an inquest will be held to establish the cause of death, but there are no suspicious circumstances and no other parties involved.
