Justin Timberlake Wants to Set a Better Example for His Son After "Lapse in Judgement"

After Justin Timberlake was pictured holding hands with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright in New Orleans, cheating rumors have abounded. Now, the singer-actor has publicly apologized on Instagram to the people he loves most in his life — Jessica Biel, his wife of seven years, and Silas, his 4-year-old son. Beyond wanting to let his fans and family know that nothing happened between him and his costar, Timberlake revealed something all parents can relate to: “This is not the example I want to set for my son.”

“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that,” he wrote on Instagram.

Fans who’ve been following JT on his fatherhood journey are cutting him some slack and sending him words of encouragement on his Instagram. In April, he was adorably seen holding Silas and waving to the crowd while competing in the Bass Pro Legends golf tournament. This was a rare moment for the two because his son is rarely seen in the public eye. “It was important to us to choose how to share him with the world because this is a whole new era for me…It’s no longer just about me. I have a wife, a child — a family,” he wrote in his 2018 book Hindsight: & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me. A few months ago, during the Emmy Awards, Timberlake and Biel sent Silas a special signal on camera while he was home in New York.

With all that being said, gossip will always play a role in Hollywood. If Timberlake keeps up his adorable dad act, he’ll be sending the most honest message to his son: People make mistakes and nobody is perfect.
