The former professional athlete was featured in the 2004 SI Swimsuit Issue.

Anna Kournikova was one of the most well-known tennis stars of her time. Having made her WTA tour debut at the age of 14, the teenage sensation reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in her first appearance at the tournament in 1997. Her rise through the rankings translated into high-flying celebrity, particularly in the marketing world. Unfortunately a series of injuries forced her early retirement from the game in 2003. She finished her career never having won a singles title.

In 2004, Kournikova was photographed by Tiziano Magni in Puerto Rico for the SI Swimsuit Issue. She was the third tennis great to pose for the magazine, following in the footsteps of Steffi Graf (1997) and Serena Williams (2003). Since then, Maria Sharapova, Sloane Stephens, Genie Bouchard, and Naomi Osaka (among others from the sport) have also graced the pages of the publication. With her beauty, athleticism and undeniable charm, Kournikova continues to be a popular figure in the world of sports and entertainment.

She and longtime partner Enrique Iglesias share three children together. While the couple keeps their family life mostly out of the spotlight, you can see glimpses of their kids—Nicholas, Lucy and Mary—on Kournikova’s instagram.

Take a look back at some of her images from her 2004 photo shoot in Puerto Rico.
