Wayne Brady is ready to bring fans into the inner workings of his family life.

Freeform announced on Thursday, May 2, that the TV personality, 51, is starring alongside his family in an all-new reality series, titled Wayne Brady: The Family Remix. The show, premiering this summer, will take viewers behind the curtain of “the man seen onstage,” as Brady dives deep into his life as an actor, comedian, singer and host.

“What happens when such an iconic entertainer peels back the curtain on the realities of an unexpected life? In Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, Brady has turned the term ‘modern family’ on its head,” reads an official synopsis.

The show will follow his blended family with ex-wife Mandie Taketa, as they co-parent their 21-year-old daughter, Maile Brady, and remain “best friends” despite their separation in 2008, after nine years of marriage.

Brady is also involved in Taketa’s 3-year-old son’s life, despite not being the father. Taketa shares Sundance-Isamu with Jason Fordham, her “life partner since 2009,” and Fordham works alongside Brady and Taketa to run their joint production company, A Wayne & Mandie Creative, where he works as a cinematographer.

“With Brady at a sudden crossroads in his life, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix offers an intimate look into his blended family’s personal life, revealing unexpected points of view and values that most people (including his own family) have a hard time understanding,” the synopsis says. “People see their social media posts — from vacations to dancing in TikToks — but what’s behind the joyful 15 seconds of fun? Their real life is not always as easy and as simple as it seems.”

Joined by the blended brood, Brady shared his excitement about the launch in an all-new Instagram Reel. "My family and I, The Core Four, we have a brand new reality show on Freeform and Hulu called Wayne Brady: The Family Remix," said Brady, who then kept the party going as he passed the phone over to his ex-wife, calling her his "soulmate," "best friend" and "ride or die."

Taketa then handed the phone off to the pair's daughter, who she called out for not speaking to her boyfriend upon his initial move-in. Continuing the trend, Taketa's partner — who also used to be one of Brady's backup dancers and still remains his best friend — took over while going for a while with his toddler.

After a tangled web continued to unfold through the phone-passing maneuver, Brady eventually received the device once more, saying, "And you'll get to see how it all plays out July 24th on Freeform and Hulu the very next day!"

"You've never seen a family like ours," he added. "Trust me."

The show will also give fans a look into Brady's more authentic life, as he's been vocal about his sexuality in the last year since coming out as pansexual.

He exclusively revealed his sexuality to PEOPLE in August, as he said he's "able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary."

The Let's Make a Deal host shared that Robin Williams' death in 2014 "really impacted" him, and set him "on my path to self-discovery," as he admitted he's "been attracted to certain men in my life, but I've always pushed that aside because of how I was raised, and because I live in today's world, and it's scary as s---."

"I’m still coming together. But If I'm healthy, then I can go onstage at Let's Make A Deal and be the best Wayne Brady that everybody wants and expects. I can be the best dad that Maile needs," he continued. "I can be the best friend to Mandie, the best son to my mother, and one day, the best partner to someone, because I'm doing this for me."

Brady is currently starring in the Broadway revival of The Wiz alongside Deborah Cox and a host of newcomers. The role marks his fourth time on Broadway, but he told PEOPLE it "never gets old."

"This is the dream. Believe me when I tell you, I'm excited anytime an opportunity like this comes up," he said. "I don't care how much success I've had, 16-year-old Wayne is still giddy over seeing his name on a dressing room door, seeing his picture out front a theater, seeing his name on a marquee, knowing that this is Broadway. It always feels fresh."

Brady added of the show, "This show is a benchmark, and not just for me, but for a lot of Black performers. That was the first time we such amazing singing and dancing on a screen from people who looked like us."
