‘Survivor 46’ deleted scene: Venus ‘almost died’ when her jacket caught on fire [WATCH]

In this week’s “Survivor 46” deleted scene, Venus Vafa confesses to viewers that her clothes caught on fire in the middle of the night when she slept too close to the campfire, and that she “almost died” as a result. And sure enough, there is video evidence to prove she was indeed in danger of burning out — watch the clip above. (Hmm, is anyone else getting flashbacks to Michael Skupin from “Survivor: The Australian Outback”?)

The video begins on Night 18 at the Nuinui camp as Venus explains in a confessional, “My unofficial role at camp at night is to tend to the fire. I’m always throwing in sticks and stuff because I’m freezing out here. And I’m always right next to it because I’m so cold and I curl right next to it in a little ball.”

The 24-year-old data analyst from Toronto, Canada adds, “But I guess I fell a little bit too much into deep sleep because as I’m sleeping, I’m feeling hotter and hotter. I’m like, what is going on? I turn around and I’m like, oh my God that’s a big flame. Oh my God, the flame is on me!” Viewers then see Venus struggling to put out the fire that’s caught onto her coat.

“All of that stuff I heard as a kid about ‘stop, drop and roll’ just immediately left my brain, and I don’t know what I’m doing,” Venus says with a chuckle. “I’m just whacking it as fast as possible, trying to get out the flames. So I’m like, okay, I guess this is how I go out. I’m at peace with that at this point.”

Venus holds up her jacket she was wearing — actually, Moriah Gaynor‘s jacket — and reveals the scary-looking burn marks. “I was lit on fire and this was the result. I almost died,” she declares. “In reality it’s Mo’s. Sorry, girl. I’ll buy you a new one.” The clip ends with Venus claiming that “almost burning [herself] to death” was what really broke her in this game.

Don’t worry, Venus, there are still seven days left for you to try to recover from this near-death tragedy! Find out what happens next when “Survivor” Season 46, Episode 11 airs Wednesday, May 8, 2024 on CBS.
