'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' Star, Aron Eisenberg, Dead at 50
One of the fan favorites of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" is dead at the age of 50.
Aron Eisenberg's widow announced the sad news on social media that the star, who played the alien, Nog, died on Saturday.
Malissa Longo wrote a touching tribute on Instagram, alongside pictures of her and Eisenberg:
"It is with extreme regret and sadness to announce that my love and best friend, @aron_eisenberg, passed away earlier today. He was an intelligent, humble, funny, empathic soul. He sought to live his life with integrity and truth. He was so driven to put the best he had into whatever work was put before him."
The two had eloped on December 28, 2018 ... but had kept their marriage under wraps while they planned a big ceremony with friends and family.
It was not revealed what the star died from, however he had dealt with medical issues throughout his entire life.
In 2015 Eisenberg underwent the second kidney surgery in his life after posting on Facebook that he was in dire need of a donor.
Luckily, one of his friends stepped up at the time, and he only spent 4 months waiting on the donor list.
It's unclear if his ongoing kidney issues played a part in his death.
Eisenberg was beloved in the "Star Trek" universe, as his character appeared in over 40 episodes of "Deep Space 9."
He also portrayed Kar in the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode, “Initiations.”

After news of his death broke, fans of the series went on social media to express their sadness and also pay tribute to his most famous character.
"So sad to wake up this morning to learn of the death of Aron Eisenberg, who brought such life and depth to Nog, one of the most interesting and surprising characters in all of Star Trek. Rest in peace," one fan wrote.
Another commented that Nog was, "the greatest Ferengi."
