Good news for "Batman" fans: Michael Keaton is reprising his iconic role in the upcoming HBO Max movie, "Batgirl."

Keaton, who starred in Tim Burton's 1989 "Batman" and the 1992 sequel "Batman Returns," is set to return as Bruce Wayne alongside Leslie Grace, who will play Batgirl, along with J.K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser and Jacob Scipio.

Warner Bros. declined comment, but included Keaton's casting in promotional material distributed to reporters.

"Batgirl" which is set to debut in 2022, centers on the superheroine (Grace), also the daughter of Gotham police commissioner Jim Gordon (Simmons).

Keaton also stars as the Caped Crusader in the "The Flash" (in theaters Nov. 4), a multiverse-spanning story directed by Andy Muschietti ("It"). The movie, which features Ezra Miller reprising his "Justice League" role as the title speedster, will catch up with Keaton's Batman 30 years after moviegoers last saw him. And because it plays with alternate worlds, "Flash" also returns Ben Affleck as the Batman from "Justice League."

In a recent interview with Collider, Keaton said donning the batsuit again in "The Flash" was "a little bit emotional."

"Just a rush of memories," he said in August. "Without giving anything away, which I can’t…the introduction (of Batman), is so good that when we walked on and started talking about a couple of shots and the angles, I went 'Whoa, this is big. This is great.' I don’t even mean for me. Just the imagery, it’s great. And reminiscent, to some degree, of Tim Burton."

Keaton hung up the utility belt after his second turn as Batman, but has returned to the world of costumed heroes. He starred in quirky best picture Oscar winner "Birdman," the 2014 dark comedy that cast Keaton as a washed-up actor known for playing a masked avenger onscreen, and had a supporting role as the villainous Vulture in Marvel's 2017 blockbuster "Spider-Man: Homecoming." More recently, he's starred in 2021's "The Protégé" and 2022's "Morbius," alongside Jared Leto.
