Youth is served as trio of Brewers prospects leads way to victory over Royals
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The future of the Milwaukee Brewers was on full display Monday afternoon.
Three of the organization's top prospects -- Tyler Black, Jeferson Quero and Hedbert Pérez -- combined to score three runs in the eighth inning, breaking a deadlock and helping lift the Brewers to a 10-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Surprise Stadium.
Black, an infielder, led off the frame with a double that one-hopped the wall in left-center and was followed by a ringing double to left by the catcher Quero.

That brought up Pérez, and he drilled a two-run homer out to right-center off Jackson Kowar to cap the three-man rally.
Black is on the cusp of Milwaukee's top 10 prospects list and Quero ranks sixth while Pérez dropped off the list after a disappointing 2022 season.

"They did a great job," manager Craig Counsell said. "Our young guys kind of delivered the blow today, for sure. It was fun to watch. They swung the bats very well."
Yet another prospect, right-hander Abner Uribe, made the three runs stand up with a scoreless bottom half of the frame that saw him reach triple digits with his fastball.
"Abner just needs to get out there and pitch," said Counsell. "He missed a lot of last year with the knee injury, so we've just got to get him off to a good start here and get him prepared for his season. You certainly see the arm talent that could make him a factor here at some point this year."
A two-RBI double in the ninth by Black and a double two batters later by Pérez drove in Black to cap the scoring.
Milwaukee used a three-run sixth to grab a 4-3 lead, with Mike Brosseau's two-run homer serving as the big blow.
Adrian Houser started and pitched an inning for the Brewers.
Hoby Milner allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in the third and the Royals scored once more in the fourth against Peter Strzlecki before the Brewers began their comeback.
The Brewers (2-2) host the Chicago Cubs at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday at American Family Fields of Phoenix.
