New York dummies? Study shows Giants fans dead last in intelligence; Jets fans low too

Are Giants fans the dumbest in football? Are the Jets fans just behind them?

That's what a study by gambling.com says. The site said New York Giants fans are ranked 32nd in the NFL in fan intelligence. Two spots lower are the New York Jets.

The website calculated its results by taking into account the education level of the social media followers for every team in the NFL. It's not based on their knowledge of football or their favorite teams.

The bottom five fan bases according to the survey were the Giants, Vikings, Jets, Bears and Titans.

The top fans might surprise you. It was the Buffalo Bills.

Here's where the problem pops up. Bills fans are known for being passionate. They still love their team after four straight Super Bowl losses, they showed a lot of class when safety Damar Hamlin suffered a devastating injury last year and the fans are known for giving out huge money to charities when players from other teams help their cause.

But have you followed any Bills sites on social media? They pregame by jumping through tables, WWE style. So maybe they have advanced degrees and doctorates, but I'll argue that doesn't equal intelligence. If one guy is spelling out J-E-T-S and another fan is jumping through flames, I don't care how much schooling they've had, I'm riding with my Jets fans here.

Jets and Giants fans might like hot dogs more than some cities, we might drink a few more beers than fans at other sites, but if you can talk to us between "Cowboys Suck" or "Patriots Suck" chants, we're well read. You can actually get a good conversation out of us.

The rest of the top five includes the Browns, the Buccaneers, the Chiefs and the Packers.

Hard to believe that smart people still cheer for the Browns.

Other notable fan bases that made the list: Cowboys come in at six, Raiders at 13, Eagles at 18 and Patriots are 23.
