New Year's Eve grocery store hours: When Publix, Wegmans, Costco, Safeway, Whole Foods are open Friday
Still need champagne or black-eyed peas?
If you’re waiting until Friday, many of the nation's grocery stores – including Trader Joe’s, Costco and Publix – will close hours before the ball drops New Year’s Eve.
Other stores will follow regular hours Friday and some will close a couple of hours earlier than usual.
But more grocery stores are open on New Year’s Day than Christmas Day when even Walmart closed. New Year's Day 2022 store closings include Aldi, Costco, Trader Joe's and Sam's Club. (See New Year's Day grocery hours here.)
Most convenience stores, gas stations and drugstores will also be open but expect most pharmacies to be closed or reduced hours.

And if you are looking for the bubbly be prepared to find store shelves bare.
The nation is in the early stages of a champagne shortage that is expected to last several years, according to Wine Enthusiast. The demand for champagne is also up 20%, Nielsen said.
Drizly, North America's largest alcohol e-commerce and on-demand delivery platform, surveyed 500 alcohol retailers and found 80% said they were at least slightly concerned about the champagne supply running short.
You also could have difficulty finding at-home COVID-19 tests and cream cheese, two ongoing shortages.

To help plan your last-minute shopping down to the minute, here are New Year's Eve and New Year's Day grocery store hours. Check with your closest location to confirm hours as hours may vary. Curbside pickup hours also may be different from store hours.
Acme Market: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year's Day.
Albertsons: Check for adjusted hours or closures at some locations on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Aldi: Stores close at 7 p.m. Friday; closed on New Year's Day.
Bashas: Open until 9 p.m. Friday; 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year's Day.
BJ's Wholesale Club: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. New Year's Eve; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. New Year's Day.
Costco: Most clubs open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; closed New Year's Day.
