Woman crushed to death while lifting 400-lb. barbell
A woman died after attempting to lift a 180-kilo (400-lb.) barbell at a gym in Mexico City, a horrific accident that was caught by a surveillance camera.
During the final moments of her life, the unidentified woman can be seen standing in front of the barbell with her daughter before taking the weight on her shoulders.
In the video, widely shared in social media, the victim can't bear the weight and falls with the barbell on top of her neck.
The woman's daughter and a nearby man immediately attempt to lift the weights, but they're too heavy. Two other men race over to help.
The three men finally manage to remove the weights from the woman's neck, but then she falls to the ground unconscious. A man moves her from the floor, but soon realizes that blood is coming out of her head.
Paramedics from the Red Cross arrived at the scene, only to find the woman no longer had vital signs.
The victim's name has not been released yet by authorities.
An investigation is ongoing.
