Wilson's Stevie Mitchell named Pennsylvania's Mr. Basketball

May 24—Add yet another honor to Stevie Mitchell's basketball resume.

Wilson's two-time All-State pick was named Mr. PA Basketball on Sunday by sportsrecruiters.com.

The finalists for the eighth annual award were selected by online voting. Fans, media and coaches each represented one-third of the voting total.

Reading High's Moro Osumanu was among the finalists, along with Hysier Miller of Neumann-Goretti, Jalen Warley of Westtown, Jordan Longino of Germantown Academy and Rahsool Diggins of Archbishop Wood.

Reading High sophomore Ruben Rodriguez was among four players (freshman and sophomores) named to the Future Players watch list.

Mitchell, a senior who will play at Marquette next season, led Berks in scoring for second straight season and averaged over 20 points for a third straight season. His 25.6 scoring average was the highest in Berks since Charlie Copp averaged 25.7 per game in 1998-99.

Mitchell finished with 2,060 career points, fourth-most all-time in Berks, and as the only player with 2,000 points and two Berks championships.

Lucy Olsen, a senior guard at Spring-Ford, was named Miss PA Basketball.
