Why Derrick White has been so good for the Boston Celtics this season

Soon after he was traded to the Boston Celtics last season at the 2022 NBA trade deadline, fans of the ball club were already freaking out over the deal that brought veteran guard Derrick White to the Celtics. Hyperbolic takes abounded about the deal to land the Colorado alum, some even going so far as to call the deal a “disaster.”

That particular take has become something of a meme itself it was so bad, but there was some legitimate criticism of White’s game last season, only to see the Colorado native make a major leap forward on both ends of the court with his new team in 2022-23.
