Boys Basketball

Lakeland 87, Lake Wales 72

Highlights:The Dreadnaughts won their third game in a row, stopping an offensive minded Highlanders who were led by Donald Gatlin’s 17 points. For Lake Wales, Sebastian Rosdo added14 points and five assists, Charles Taylor 15 points and nine rebounds and Christopher Dorsainvil six points, eight rebounds.

Records: Lakeland 9-1, Lake Wales 3-10.

George Jenkins 62, Jordan Christian 52

Highlights: Sophomore Antonio Wright and junior Jakiem Collins had 16 and 15 points. Respectively as the Eagles won for only the second time in their last five games. Timothy King had a monster game on the boards, grabbing 19 rebounds, 11 at the offensive end and also scored 12 points. For JCP, Zay Mosley led with 20 points and 15 rebounds. William Reyes scored 10 points, and Gabby Rodriguez added nine points with three 3-pointers.

Records: George Jenkins 6-9, Jordan Christian 7-4.

LATE RESULTS

Jordan Christian Prep 82, Avon Park 70

Highlights: Zay Mosley led the Seahawks with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Gary Navarez hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 pts, William Reyes added 16 points.

Girls Basketball

Lake Region 45, Lakeland 33

Highlights: The Thunder reached eight wins for the first time since 2012-13.

Records: Lakeland 0-12, Lake Region 8-3.

Boys Soccer

Auburndale 4, George Jenkins 1

Highlights: MarcG Matellus scored a pair of goals, his 13th and 14th goals of the season, as the Bloodhounds won their fourth match in a row. Ronel Jasmin and Eros Badillo add the other two Auburndale goals and senior Jacob Welch had two assists. For Jenkins, it was its fifth consecutive loss. Junior Geovanny Garcia scored on an assist from Justin Franco.

Records: George Jenkins 4-9-1, Auburndale 10-3.

Girls Soccer

Ridge Community 8, Mount Dora 0

Highlights: The Bolts continued their onslaught of opponents, led by senior Jamie White’s three goals. It was White’s third ‘hat trick’ in the last five matches and fourth in the past two seasons. She also added an assist as Megan Rhonemus added a pair of goals and an assist. Sofia Salas, Brianne Brudy and Noemi Casique each had a goal and an assist. The Bolts have won three in a row since a 4-4 tie with Clermont East Ridge.

Records: Ridge Community 14-0-3, Mount Dora 2-10.

LATE RESULTS

Victory Christian 2, St. Petersburg Keswick Christian

HIghlights: The Storm scored on a penalty kick by Addie Lemmond and an own goal by the Crusaders, forced by pressure from Sylvia Rodriguez. Amber Choquette and Alaina Fountain split time in goal to earn the clean sheet. Ava Schrock and Neveah Lavely each contributed their best minutes of the season.

Records: Victory Christian 10-3-1, Keswick Christian 4-7.
