KEY ACTION Issued a proclamation recognizing March 2022 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Wayne County.
DISCUSSION Superintendent of the Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities Dave Ashley; Jonny Wolfe, student at the Ida Sue School and recipient of the R.A. Horn Award; Ashley Hewitt, intervention specialist at the Ida Sue School and recipient of the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator Award and Ken Kelly, community transitions manager for Wayne DD were on hand.

“We’re delighted to do this,” County Commissioner Ron Amstutz said.
Ashley explained the mission of the board is ensuring inclusion of the developmentally disabled in society as a whole. “We really want to include everybody in every aspect of life,” Ashley said. “We restructured the way we do our educational services, and it’s all community based.”
Top goals include the reintegration of students with developmental disabilities back into their home districts, if possible, and preparing them for life after school. The community is invited to an open house at the agency's Administration Building at 266 Oldman Road in Wooster from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 14.
OTHER ACTION
Approved County expenses ranging from bills to travel and training.
Appointed the county administrator to act as a representative of the board for mediation, negotiation, and settlement of litigation matters, and to execute agreements and documents accordingly.
Approved the 2022 contract for security services between Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Wayne County Children Services Board.
Authorized the advertisement of bids for the Newkirk Road bridge replacement project.
Approved grant application for the Sterling wastewater project to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
