Watch Alabama softball's Larissa Preuitt round the bases on a ball she didn't hit out of the infield

Alabama softball's Larissa Preuitt scored on a ball that didn't leave the infield in the second inning of Game 1 versus LSU at Rhoads Stadium on Friday.

Preuitt swung but the ball only went a couple of feet down the third base line, and she looked primed to beat it out for an infield single. Except that LSU's third baseman overthrew first base and the ball ended up near the right-field foul pole.

Preuitt used her speed to round the bases and beat the throw home. The play officially was officially recorded as a single with an error allowing Preuitt to score. It extended Alabama's lead to three. The Tide would extend the lead to four after the third inning.

Preuitt came into the game hitting .228 while appearing in 45 games as a freshman. Preuitt has hit one home run in her career, a grand slam versus Missouri while bringing in 15 runs on 28 hits this year. Preuitt came to Alabama from Hartselle High and was the 2022 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in Alabama.
