How to watch Alabama football vs. Auburn in Iron Bowl on TV, live stream, plus game time
It's rivalry week and the Iron Bowl is set.
Alabama football will host the Auburn Tigers at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022.
The Tide (9-2, 5-2 SEC) is coming off back-to-back wins against Ole Miss and Austin Peay. Alabama has suffered two SEC losses this season, to Tennessee and LSU.
The Tigers (5-6, 2-5 SEC) are also coming off back-to-back wins against Texas A&M and Western Kentucky. It's only the second time this season the Tigers have won two games in a row, after suffering a five-game losing streak midseason.
Why is it called The Iron Bowl?
The matchup between the University of Alabama and Auburn dates back to 1893, when Auburn was still known as Agricultural and Mechanical College. Back then, the game was played on a neutral field in Birmingham.
But, the game wasn't given its nickname until much later.
In 1980, Auburn coach Ralph "Shug" Jordan had coined the name “Iron Bowl” due to the prominence of the iron and steel industry in Birmingham, but Alabama's Paul "Bear" Bryant liked to call it the “Brag Bowl” as the winner’s fans got to gloat all year long.
