NORTH CANTON − The Rev. Thomas Cebula, a priest who has served as senior chaplain at Walsh University for 10 years, is being honored as he takes a new role.

Cebula, 80, has been reassigned by Catholic Diocese of Youngstown Bishop David J. Bonnar to serve as the administrator of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville and Sacred Heart parish in Nimishillen Township, effective Nov. 25.

He will continue to serve at Walsh until then.

Cebula, a native of Canton, came to Walsh in 2013 after retiring from St. Barbara Catholic Church in Massillon, where he pastored for 20 years.

He also assisted with a fundraising effort to raise $250,000 for the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Giving Society. He has played an active role in campus ministry, partnering with Associate Chaplain Father Louis Bertrand, Director of Campus Ministry Ben Walther, and the campus ministry staff to support faith-based experiential programs for Walsh students.
