Gavin Copenhaver, CAL football
CAL senior Gavin Copenhaver rushed 15 times for 225 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Centurions to a 38-0 win over Bardstown in the KHSAA Class 3A state championship game Saturday.
Travis Egan, Bullitt East football
Bullitt East senior quarterback Travis Egan led the Chargers to their first state championship in school history after going 20-for-29 for 286 yards and four touchdowns in Bullitt East 28-27 win over Male in the KHSAA Class 6A title game on Saturday.
Zakiyah Johnson, Sacred Heart basketball
Sacred Heart sophomore ZaKiyah Johnson helped lead the defending champions to a 2-0 start on the season after dropping 27 points and eight rebounds in Sacred Heart's 74-33 win over Southwestern on Monday. Johnson followed up her performance with 27 points and seven rebounds against Manual on Friday.
Leah Macy, Mercy basketball
Mercy sophomore Leah Macy is listed as the No. 17 recruit for the Class of 2025 according to ESPN's Terrific 25 rankings. On Monday, Macy backed up her spot with 34 points and 27 rebounds in Mercy's 75-58 win over Male.
Sara Ritter, Whitefield Academy basketball
Whitefield Academy's Sara Ritter recorded 16 points and seven rebounds as the Wildcats kicked off their season with a big-time 68-30 win over Pleasure Ridge Park on Monday.
Jack Scales, North Oldham basketball
North Oldham guard Jack Scales led the Mustangs with 24 points and three rebounds to push North Oldham past Manual on Monday.
Kyran Tilley, Evangel Christian basketball
Kyran Tilley left it all out on the court Wednesday night. The Evangel Christian junior led the Eagles with 32 points on 54 percent shooting, but Evangel Christian fell to Walton-Verona 102-100 in overtime.
CJ Walls, Trinity basketball
Trinity senior guard CJ Walls paced the Shamrocks with 18 points and seven rebounds during Trinity's 54-49 win over DeSales in their season opener.
