Alexis Toro voted North Jersey Lacrosse Player of the Week for May 7-13
After four days of voting, Westwood sophomore Alexis Toro was selected as the North Jersey Lacrosse Player of the Week.
Toro turned in a dominant all-around week to lead the Cardinals past three opponents in the Freedom East. She chipped in 16 goals and one assist on offense and produced 15 draw controls and 11 forced turnovers.
Here were the other nominees:
Ava Bower
DePaul sophomore
Bower collected her 100th career goal last Thursday with a hat trick against Fair Lawn. The Spartans middie finished with 10 goals, two assists and 10 ground balls.
Paige Fava
West Milford junior
Fava was on her game last week when the Highlanders locked up their second-straight American South title. She poured in seven goals and four assists in a pair of divisional victories.
Jea Herninko
Rutherford sophomore
Herninko recorded a hat trick in all three games last week to give the Bulldogs their first division title in only their second year of lacrosse. She totaled 11 goals and five assists to go with 16 ground balls.
Ava Kearl
Northern Highlands senior
The Highlanders middie reached a set of career milestones last week by getting her 100th goal, 200th point and 200th draw control. She tallied seven goals and one assist overall.
Finn Kristan
River Dell senior
The Golden Hawks attackman lifted his team to another three wins by scoring 17 goals and five assists. Kristan picked up his 100th career goal on Wednesday against Pompton Lakes.
Courtney Pelisson
Pascack Valley sophomore
The Panthers finished as the unbeaten American North champions behind a big week from the star middie. Pelisson had 11 goals and five assists over three wins.
Richard Sciaino
Mahwah senior
Sciaino stepped up on Thursday by racking up a career-high seven points in a win over archrival Ramsey. He fired in six goals and had seven assists over three games for the Thunderbirds.
