Meet this week's Louisville high school girls athlete of the week from North Oldham High
It's that time of the week.
North Oldham girls basketball's Elizabeth Boyd won this week's Courier Journal girls athlete of the week, voted on by you, the fans.
The senior and All-Eighth Region pick was masterful last week in two victories, scoring 18 points apiece and grabbing 21 total rebounds. Boyd's been a critical piece of the Mustangs' season and proved it again in the lead-up to the 29th District tournament.
Boyd beat out a strong field, including second-place finisher Noel Smith of Whitefield Academy.

Noel Smith, Whitefield Academy basketball
In last Monday's, 58-54, win over Male, the birthday girl locked-in a double-double, dropping 14 points and 15 rebounds. Then, the following day, Smith scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds (surpassing 1,000 career rebounds) in Tuesday's 77-27 win over Portland Christian.
Charlotte Crush, Sacred Heart swimming
The Sacred Heart Academy freshman was on fire this past weekend. Crush broke two state records (100-yard butterfly & 100 backstroke) at the University of Kentucky’s Lancaster Aquatic Center and led the Valkyries to their 11th straight KHSAA title. The 100 backstroke record was previously held by her sister, Anabel (2021).

Elizabeth Boyd, North Oldham basketball
North Oldham senior Elizabeth Boyd, who was named All-Eighth Region this week, was steady as she goes to close the regular season, posting 18 points apiece in wins over Collins (75-41) and Eastern (54-40) while totaling 21 rebounds. Boyd and the Mustangs (18-10) host the 29th District tournament this week, hoping to return for a second straight year to the Eighth Region tournament.

Haley McDonald, Sacred Heart swimming
Sophomore Haley McDonald also had a big weekend at the KHSAA Swimming State Championships. She finished first in the 200 individual medley (1:59.89), first in the 500 free (4:53.11) and helped win the following relays: the 400 free (3:25.39) and the 200 medley relay (1:42.25).
Savannah Shawver, Holy Cross basketball
The multi-sport senior could not be stopped in last week's, 49-35, win over Atherton. Shawver secured a double-double by scoring 24 points and nabbing 17 boards in the Valentine's Day victory.
