Vikings sign DT Khyiris Tonga off Falcons’ practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings have signed defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga off of the Atlanta Falcons‘ practice squad, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported Tuesday afternoon.

Tonga, one of several former Bears signed by Atlanta over the offseason, will return to the NFC North and join a Vikings team that is currently first in the division with a 3-1 record.

Chicago originally drafted Tonga in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft, where he would play in 15 games as a rookie. It was somewhat of a surprise when the Bears released him last month.

The Falcons now have an opening on their practice squad, which they could potentially use to sign another nose tackle.
