Vanderbilt women's basketball lands 6-foot-4 Tennessee Lady Vols transfer Justine Pissott

Vanderbilt women's basketball landed a transfer from the rival Tennessee Lady Vols, as Justine Pissott announced her commitment to the Commodores on Instagram on Thursday.

Pissott, a 6-foot-4 wing, was the Lady Vols' highest-ranked high school signee since 2019 and widely considered to be a five-star player. She averaged just seven minutes per game and shot 26% from 3-point range, where the majority of her attempts came.

Pissott adds needed depth on the wing for a Vanderbilt team that played the majority of last season with just eight players. She also adds needed height, as two returning Commodores, Ryanne Allen and Sacha Washington, are over 6 feet tall.

Pissott is the second transfer of the offseason for Vanderbilt. Coach Shea Ralph also added Duke's Jordyn Oliver, also a former heralded recruit.

Despite winning just seven SEC games in her first two seasons, Ralph has found success in the transfer portal. In 2022-23, Ralph brought in transfers Ciaja Harbison and Marnelle Garraud, who became the Commodores' two leading scorers. Vanderbilt lost two grad transfers in the offseason in Demi Washington and Yaubryon Chambers but retains the majority of its core, including rising juniors Washington and Iyana Moore.
