University of Sioux Falls football aim to go to 3-0: How to watch USF vs. Concordia-St. Paul
In theory, the University of Sioux Falls should have an easy time with its third game of the season. The Cougars are 2-0, and their opponent, Concordia-St. Paul, is 0-2 after coming off a 1-10 season in 2021.
But the Golden Bears have proven themselves to match up well with USF in recent years, beating them soundly in 2019 and controlling the action for almost the entire game in 2018, only to lose on a last-second Hail Mary.
OK, the Cougars routed them 50-14 last year at Bob Young Field, but we’re trying to create some drama, here.

What to know about the matchup
The Cougars have looked very good through two weeks. After throwing for over 300 yards to pick up a quality road win in the season opener at MSU-Moorhead, the Cougars dominated Minot State in last week’s home opener. That they won the game was certainly no surprise, but holding the Beavers to a mere 88 yards of offense in posing a shutout, they made a statement about just how good they expect to be this season.

The Cougars also got their running game going last week, going for 351 yards on the ground. Through two weeks USF averages 506 yards of offense; 263 on the ground, 243 through the air. They’ve converted 58 percent of their third downs, and kicker Nick Hernandez has been perfect.
On defense, Zach Durfee has a whopping six sacks through two games, while Conor Rice has three and Cal Botsford two.
The Golden Bears have managed a respectable 351 yards per game on offense – 186 passing and 165 rushing – but they’ve only been able to turn that into 20 total points. Five turnovers and three missed field goals have been factors.
Running back Jaylin Richardson is the Bears’ top playmaker, with 205 rushing yards and an average of over 8 yards per carry, while also leading the team with seven catches for 66 yards.
Conner Cordts, who showed promise as a freshman quarterback last year, has completed 61 percent of his throws for 342 yards.
Cyrus McClure leads the defense with three inteceptions while Rhett Sheehan has 18 tackles.
