Tyrese Haliburton scores 18 points in 14 minutes in All-Star Game; Pacers got next

Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton played just 14 minutes in Sunday night's NBA All-Star Game but scored 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. He was the fourth reserve chosen in the pre-game draft by LeBron James, but Team LeBron lost to Team Giannis 184-175 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.

Boston's Jayson Tatum scored 55 points, setting an NBA All-Star Game record, to lead Team Giannis, and was named All-Star MVP.

Haliburton played just 5 minutes and 36 seconds in the game's first three quarters, but scored seven points on 3 of 4 shooting with all of his minutes coming in the second quarter. He scored on a layup, a dunk and a 3-pointer off an assist from Denver's Nikola Jokic in quick succession.

He didn't play at all in the third quarter, but he finally got back on the fourth and put on a show, albeit a brief one, with three 3-pointers and a layup, scoring 11 points in the quarter on 4 of 5 shooting.

Haliburton also posted three assists, a steal and a rebound. He was participating in his first All-Star game and reached the finals of the 3-point Contest on Saturday night, finishing third behind teammate Buddy Hield and champion Damian Lillard.

The Indiana Pacers will host next year's All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
