TreVeyon Henderson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Paris Johnson Jr. named AP preseason All-Americans

Ohio State football has its share of representatives in the Associated Press' 2022 preseason All-America team.

The Buckeyes had five players overall and three first-team members, second to Alabama, which had four first-team members and six players represented overall.

Offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba were each named AP preseason first-team All-Americans, while quarterback C.J. Stroud and offensive tackle Dawand Jones were each named to the second-team.

Johnson, who moves back to tackle after starting at right guard for Ohio State in 2021, was honored along with Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski.

Henderson, who ran for 1,248 rushing yards, averaged 6.8 yards per carry and scored 19 touchdowns overall, was honored along with Texas running back Bijan Robinson.

USC's Jordan Addison and LSU's Kayshon Boutte were named AP first-team preseason All-Americans along with Smith-Njigba, who led Ohio State with 1,606 receiving yards on 95 catches.

Alabama star quarterback Bryce Young pushes C.J. Stroud to second team

Stroud was named AP second-team preseason All-American behind Alabama quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young.

Jones was joined on the second-team with Baylor offensive tackle Connor Galvin.

Ohio State did not have a member of its defense honored.

The Buckeyes will open its 2022 season Sept. 3 against Notre Dame.
