Trent McDuffie Drafted by Chiefs: Kansas City's Updated Depth Chart After Round 1
The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Kansas City sent three picks to the New England Patriots to complete the trade:
McDuffie is the third cornerback off the board, behind LSU's Derek Stingley Jr. and Cincinnati's Ahmad Gardner.
Bleacher Report's Scouting Department listed McDuffie as the fourth-best corner in the class, ranked 16th overall.
While it's unclear who is top of the class at the moment, we won't have to wait long to find out. Teams don't draft cornerbacks in the first round to have them sitting on the bench. McDuffie will likely be thrown into the fire from the second he sets foot in training camp.
Here is the Chiefs defensive depth chart after the latest pick:
LDE: Mike Danna, Joshua Kaindoh
DT: Chris Jones, Khalen Saunders
DT: Derrick Nnadi, Tershawn Wharton
RDE: Frank Clark, Jonathan Woodard
WLB: Nick Bolton, Dorian O'Daniel
LB: Nick Bolton, Jermaine Carter
LB: Willie Gay Jr., Elijah Lee
CB: Rashad Fenton, Luq Barcoo
CB: Trent McDuffie, Deandre Baker, Brandin Dandridge
SCB: L'Jarius Sneed, Dicaprio Bootle
FS: Juan Thornhill, Deon Bush
SS: Justin Reid, Zayne Anderson

The Chiefs finished just 27th in the NFL against the pass last season and lost key players in the secondary, including Tyrann Mathieu and Charvarius Ward. McDuffie will have big shoes to fill, but he can see the field quickly while filling a huge hole in the defense.
With Kansas City always looking to compete for a Super Bowl, there will be plenty of pressure on the rookie right away.
