Tommy White named SEC Player of the Week

Tommy White was a huge reason why No. 1 LSU was able to take the weekend series from No. 12 Kentucky.

His hard work didn’t go unnoticed by the league office as he was named the SEC Player of the Week. White had a batting average of .389 (7-for-18) last week with four doubles, one homer, 11 RBI, four runs and a .429 on base percentage.

White was profiled as the best hitter in the transfer portal after breaking the freshman home run record last season at NC State. Expectations were through the roof for White as soon as he stepped foot in the Bayou.

So far, he has exceeded expectations as he has a season batting average of .366 with 14 doubles and 12 homers, and he currently leads the NCAA with 62 RBI.

LSU will take on Louisiana Tuesday night from Alex Box Stadium. The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. The Tigers will then hit the road to take on the Ole Miss Rebels, who are ranked last in the SEC.
