Tom Brady's Projected Date for Hall of Fame Induction After NFL Retirement
With Tom Brady officially retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons, when will the legendary quarterback be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots legend, who is undoubtedly a first-ballot player, will be eligible for the Hall of Fame in the summer of 2027. He'll be eligible alongside Ben Roethlisberger, who also announced his retirement this month after 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The only thing preventing Brady from immediate induction is the timing rule for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The hall requires a player be retired at least five years before he can be considered for induction.
Still, there's no doubt he will one day have his name called. He won seven Super Bowl titles and earned five Super Bowl MVP awards, three NFL MVP awards, three first-team All-Pro selections and 15 Pro Bowl nods, in addition to numerous passing records, including most career passing yards and most career passing TDs.
Brady's retirement doesn't necessarily come as a surprise after he said on his Let's Go! podcast (via ESPN's Jenna Laine) that his decision about whether to play another season was going to be heavily impacted by his family:
At some point soon, Brady's name will be will be next to the likes of Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Warren Moon and many, many more legendary quarterbacks in the Hall of Fame.
In addition, the Patriots will undoubtedly retire his No. 12 in the coming months.
