Terrance McKinney steps in on short notice at UFC on ESPN 51 vs. Mike Breeden

Terrance McKinney raised his hand – and he’s been called upon.

With Lando Vannata out of UFC on ESPN 51 due to injury, McKinney (13-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC) steps in to fight Mike Breeden (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) on Aug. 12 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, his manager, Oren Hodak, of KO Reps, told MMA Junkie on Thursday.

An additional person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

McKinney, 28, looks to snap a two-fight losing skid. After a 2-0 start to his UFC tenure, McKinney has dropped three of four. He most recently competed July 15 when he was submitted by Nazim Sadykhov. Win or lose as a pro, McKinney has never gone the distance.

Breeden, 34, also finds himself on a two-fight skid entering the bout. Since his UFC signing in 2021, Breeden has only competed twice. He was finished by Alexander Hernandez in his October 2021 promotional debut before a unanimous decision loss to Natan Levy in April 2022.

With the addition, the UFC on ESPN 51 lineup includes:

  • Rafael dos Anjos vs. Vicente Luque

  • Chris Daukaus vs. Khalil Rountree
