Temporary closures are coming to I-75/Clark Road area in Sarasota County

The Florida Department of Transportation is implementing closures in the Clark Road/Interstate 75 area several nights over the next few weeks.

The FDOT said that drivers should expect delays and use caution in the work zone. The department has been working on a $52.6 million project that involves reconstructing the Clark Road I-75 interchange into a diverging diamond configuration and making other improvements to the interstate and the road.

The closures and detours are as follows.

  • On Sunday, April 23, at midnight to Monday, April 24, at 2 a.m., crews will close Clark Road under I-75. I-75 northbound to Clark Road westbound drivers and Clark Road westbound drivers will be detoured to Proctor Road to a left onto Honore Avenue to Clark Road. I-75 southbound drivers to Clark Road eastbound and Clark Road eastbound drivers will be detoured to Honore Avenue to a right onto Proctor Road to Clark Road.

  • On Monday, April 24, at midnight to Tuesday, April 25, at 2 a.m., crews will close Clark Road under I-75. I-75 northbound to Clark Road westbound drivers and Clark Road westbound drivers will be detoured to Proctor Road to a left onto Honore Avenue to Clark Road. I-75 southbound to Clark Road eastbound drivers and Clark Road eastbound drivers will be detoured to Honore Avenue to a right onto Proctor Road to Clark Road.

  • On Tuesday, April 25, at midnight to Wednesday, April 26, at 2 a.m., crews will close Clark just east of Queensbury Boulevard. Clark Road westbound drivers will be detoured to Proctor Road to a left onto Honore Avenue to Clark Road. I-75 northbound and southbound to Clark Road eastbound drivers and Clark Road eastbound drivers will be detoured to Honore Avenue to a right onto Proctor Road to Clark Road.

  • On Sunday, April 30, at midnight to Monday, May 1 at 2 a.m., crews will close the I-75 northbound off-ramp to Clark Road.  Drivers heading to Clark Road may either continue to the Bee Ridge Road exit (Exit 207) and hop on I-75 southbound to the Clark Road exit or use alternate routes.

  • On Monday, May 1, at midnight to Tuesday, May 2 at 2 a.m., crews will close I-75 northbound just north of Laurel Road (Exit 195). All I-75 northbound drivers will get off at Exit 195 and continue on Laurel to a right onto Honore Avenue to a right onto Clark Road to I-75 northbound.

  • On Monday, May 1, at midnight to Tuesday, May 2 at 2 a.m., crews will close the SR 681 on-ramp to I-75 northbound. Drivers will be detoured to a left onto Honore Avenue to a right onto Clark Road to I-75 northbound.
