Teddi Mellencamp Says She Has "Another Melanoma" in Skin Cancer Update

Teddi Mellencamp is detailing a heartbreaking update amid her battle with skin cancer.

Nearly a year after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared her stage 2 melanoma diagnosis, the 42-year-old opened up about another development, explaining that after a recent doctor's visit, she learned that "the most recent spot biopsied is another melanoma."

"I have been debating whether I should even publicly talk about this or not but then I remember how every time I post about skin cancer someone else is reminded to get checked," she wrote in a Sept. 13 Instagram post. "I can't even remember if this is the 12th or 13th one."

As Teddi noted, she has been unable to sleep as of late, but is determined to focus on the positive.

"I am so grateful for my 3-month checkup because we caught this one early," the Bravo alum—who shares four kids with husband Edwin Arroyave—added. "This means another surgery next week and additional biopsies. As I lay here with tears in my eyes and worry, I know my kids will be up soon. I have a podcast at 10. Life goes on."

For Teddi, her outlook serves as a hopeful reminder amid a crucial time.

"I keep telling myself, 'We can do hard things,'" she continued. "We have so many beautiful things to look forward to, so if you woke up today feeling lost or scared, I encourage you to make a list of some of the things you are truly grateful for and what you are most excited about."

Last October, Teddi detailed her diagnosis, with the Two Teas In A Pod host sharing her plans on taking the necessary steps to move forward, including undergoing surgery.

"Moral of this story: If a doctor says, ‘Come in every 3 months,' please go in every 3 months," she wrote an Instagram post at the time. "I so badly wanted to blow this off. ‘What could happen in 3 months?' I thought. Apparently, a lot. I continue to share this journey because I was a 90s teen, putting baby oil and iodine on my skin to tan it. Never wearing sunscreen or getting my moles checked until I was 40 years old."

She concluded her personal message by reminding everyone to put their health first.

"This has been such a wakeup call for me," Teddi added. "And I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you're in."
