Tebo leaving Hamilton for position at Ottawa Area ISD
FILLMORE TWP. — Hamilton Superintendent David Tebo will leave his current position this summer, but will continue to be involved in education in the area.
Tebo will be moving to the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District to serve as the director of innovation services. The hiring was officially approved by the OASID Board of Education during a meeting Wednesday, March 16.
“I am excited to lean into the new role and see where I might be able to support and cultivate innovation around the county,” Tebo stated in an email to The Sentinel. “We are in an exciting educational time and have the opportunity to take innovation to scale in a lot of places. Educators across the OAISD are doing amazing things with and for our learners and the community as a whole. I'm excited to see how I might help support that work in new ways.”
Tebo announced his resignation from Hamilton, effective June 30, during a board meeting Feb. 14. His resignation was officially accepted by the board during a March 14 meeting. Tebo said he made his announcement in February to allow the board to begin its search for his replacement.

More: Hamilton, Holland progressing on superintendent searches
Hamilton’s school board has since hired Michigan Leadership Institute to lead a superintendent search, a timeline for which is available on the HCS website.
The outgoing superintendent said it “has been an honor” to lead the district during the “Hamilton: The Story of Us” event last week. During the March 14 meeting, he reflected on the emotions brought on by the event.
“Friday and Saturday were hard for me,” Tebo said. “I got to see what makes Hamilton great. I also got to see a lot of what we have collected and built over the last 11 years. I’d put it up against any education system anywhere.”
Although the departure will be hard for him, Tebo said the district will be in good hands with a team he says “is as good as it gets.”
“Leaving Hamilton will be difficult and at the same time our team is in a great place,” he stated. “Every organization works best when leadership and the needs of the organization align. I feel like we have been in alignment as my leadership focused on each child has led to a strong strategic plan and instructional model.
“The next leader will be able to come in and focus on fine-tuning the plan and continuing to support our team. While it will be a tough transition for me, the team in Hamilton is as good as it gets.”
