Taunton Tornadoes 10U softball cruises to victory at Middleboro Spring Fling
MIDDLEBORO — The travel softball season may have just begun, but the Taunton Tornadoes 10U team are already in championship form.
In their first tournament of the season, the Tornadoes cruised to victory this past weekend, going 6-0 while outscoring their opponents 89-11 on the way to winning the Middleboro/Carver Youth Softball League's 2023 Spring Fling Tournament.
"Our girls played great," coach Peter Buffington said. "They have been working hard indoors since October [and] it was nice to see it all come together in all phases of the game."

Taunton kicked things off on May 6 with a 23-0 win over 1620 Storm Plymouth followed by another big 23-2 win over Massachusetts Attack 10U and rounded out the day with an 8-0 win over Madness Softball 10U. On May 7, they again beat 1620 Storm Plymouth, this time 17-0, before downing the New England Road Runners 10U 9-1 in the semi-final and then outlasting the Rehoboth Thunder 10U 9-8 to take home the tournament title.
"We spend a lot of time on the fundamentals of the game," Buffington said. "They are good at all of the little things. I am thankful to the dedicated coaches we have. Six games in two days is a grind for any age group. These girls have really come together as a group and we are looking forward to a fun summer, both on and off the field."
The members of the 2023 Taunton Tornadoes 10U team are Alyssa Allen, Raelyn Bourque, Charlotte Buffington, Abigail Castro, Riley Gallagher, Brooke Guilmette, Ella Parece, Lylah Parece, Emma Stanton, Tori Taylor and Nora Thurston.
