We’re Still Not Over Florence Pugh’s Major Hair Transformation—Orange Suits Her!
Florence Pugh has been killing the game on the red carpet recently, second only to maybe Margot Robbie and the Barbie cast when it comes to debuting major looks at film premieres this summer. What we’re most obsessed with has been her extensive hair transformation, which has seen her go from her trademark long blonde locks to a super-short, punk-inspired buzz cut that the Oppenheimer actress has sported in a variety of eye-catching colors.
We charted the timeline of Florence’s hair looks since her famous pre-Met Gala haircut, including her most recent bleach-blonde look at the launch of London’s flagship Lotus showroom.
Florence Pugh Chose Drastic Haircut To Take 'Vanity Out Of The Picture'
The Oscar-nominated actress debuted her new, at-the-time-brunette buzz cut at the Met Gala this past May, confirming that she had originally shaved her head for her role in the upcoming film We Live in Time. She paired the bold new look with a custom monochromatic ensemble from Valentino Haute Couture, including a striking tall feathered headpiece that also came from Valentino. Florence later told the Radio Times that, aside from the film role, she had decided to own her buzzed hairstyle publicly to take "vanity out of the picture." Of the haircut's debut at the Met Gala, the Don't Worry Darling star said, "I purposefully chose to look like that. I wanted vanity out of the picture. Hollywood is very glamorous—especially for women—and it's hard for an audience to see past that." She added, "Whenever I've not needed to be glam or have a full face of makeup, I fight to keep it that way. It helps the audience. Vanity is gone. The only thing that people can look at then is your raw face."
Florence went on to discuss how her looks had influenced her career, and vice versa. "Even at the beginning of my career, I was always fighting to control my image," she shared. "It helps me when I'm wearing less makeup because then I'm less of a sparkly thing on screen. I feel like I'm allowed to do ugly faces, like it's more acceptable."
From Pink To Orange To Blonde, Florence Is Loving Customizing Her New 'Do
The Little Women actress didn't stop at her initial hair look, either—along with some natural growth of her hair, its style has changed several times when it comes to its color. Florence has been in front of the cameras a ton lately thanks to various events for Oppenheimer, in which the actress co-stars, and at nearly every one of them she's sported a slightly different look. For the Oppenheimer photocall in the U.K., Florence rocked a bright blue denim wrap dress with still-short hair that had been dyed a soft pink at the ends. She flaunted the same hair color for her appearance at a Valentino fashion show, along with a flowy baby blue gown.

However, for the film's premiere in London soon after, Florence's hair color had changed to a fiery orange, paired perfectly with a copper-colored cutout gown. Both matched the backdrop at the premiere, which showed orange-red smoke under the orange title OPPENHEIMER.
Once again in London, just a couple of weeks later, the Midsommar starlet switched up her locks to a complete bleach-blonde dye job, with her hair slightly longer now. She sported the new look at the launch of the Lotus flagship showroom at 73 Piccadilly in London, accented with a striking red deep V-cut jumpsuit and a variety of gold jewelry, along with black heels and a matching purse.
Only Florence (and her trusty longtime hairstylist, Peter Lux) knows where her hair journey will go next—but we certainly can't wait to see!
