Steven Kwan drives in 5 runs, Guardians top Mariners for first win of season
The Guardians are in the win column in 2023.
After being shut out on Opening Day, the Guardians put together a solid offensive effort against Seattle starter Robbie Ray en route to a 9-4 win over the Mariners Friday night.
This is the way: The Guardians know their brand of baseball can be demanding — and they're fine with that
Outfielder Steven Kwan compiled a five-RBI game, including a two-run double that gave the Guardians a 5-3 lead when his soft liner hit the chalk just beyond third base. It was the second five-RBI game in Kwan's career, along with Sept. 25 of last year against the Texas Rangers on the day the Guardians clinched the American League Central Division title.
According to the team, Kwan also became just the second Cleveland player in franchise history to record at least five RBIs in a game in the first two games of the season, joining Larry Doby in 1953.
