State troopers deliver a baby in Buena Vista home
BUENA VISTA - Doctors might not make house calls anymore, but three state troopers came to the rescue when a woman gave birth in her home here.
The troopers responded to a "medical assist" at a township home shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, according to an account from New Jersey State Police.
The expecting mother told the troopers she felt that she was going to give birth at any minute, the account said.
One trooper, Nicholas Pellegrino, helped the woman lie down. The others, Vincent Caporrino and Christopher Scarlett, gathered clean towels.
"Within minutes of their arrival, the troopers helped deliver a beautiful baby girl," the account said.
"A short time later, EMS arrived on scene and the troopers assisted in cutting the baby’s umbilical cord," it continued.
The mother, whose name was not released, was taken with her baby to an area hospital. They were last listed in stable condition "and doing well," according to the account.
