Here are the start dates for schools in Greater New Bedford

Whether you have children attending area schools, or just want to know when to expect the extra traffic to start along your travel routes, it's helpful to know when schools are returning to session. Here's a list of local SouthCoast school districts and their back-to-school information:

NEW BEDFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS

  • Grades 1-12, most schools, start on Thursday, Aug. 31;

  • Hayden McFadden and Gomes elementary schools started Wednesday, Aug. 23; Parker Elementary School, all grades including pre-K and Kindergarten, started Tuesday, Aug. 22.

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten, most schools, start on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

  • Hayden-McFadden and Gomes elementary schools Pre-K and Kindergarten starts Tuesday, Aug. 29.

  • All grades and schools start Wednesday, Aug. 30.

FAIRHAVEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

  • Leroy L. Wood Elementary School and East Fairhaven Elementary School grades 1-5 start on Wednesday, Aug. 30;

  • Hastings Middle School and Fairhaven High School students start Wednesday, Aug. 30;

  • East Fairhaven Elementary School Kindergarten and PM pre-school and Leroy L. Wood Elementary School Pre-K PM session and Kindergarten start on Friday, Sept. 1;

  • East Fairhaven Elementary School AM pre-school and Leroy L. Wood Elementary School Pre-K AM session start Tuesday, Sept. 5.

WESTPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS

  • Grades 1-12 start Tuesday, Aug. 29. Kindergarten screening also Aug. 29.

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten start Wednesday, Sept. 6;

  • Pre-school starts Thursday, Sept. 7.

OLD ROCHESTER REGIONAL SCHOOLS

  • All grades/schools except Kindergarten start Wednesday, Aug. 30;

  • Kindergarten starts Friday, Sept. 1.

  • Project Grow Pre-K at the Center School in Mattapoisett starts Tuesday, Sept. 5 for the Tuesday, Thursday group, and Wednesday, Sept. 6 for the Monday, Wednesday, Friday group.

  • Project Grow Pre-K at Sippican Elementary School in Marion and Rochester Memorial School in Rochester starts Thursday, Sept. 7 for the Tuesday, Thursday group, and Friday, Sept. 8 for the Monday, Wednesday, Friday group.

BISHOP STANG HIGH SCHOOL

  • Grade 9 starts Wednesday, Aug. 30;

  • Grades 10-12 start Thursday, Aug. 31. (Grade 9 has day off).

SAINT TERESA OF CALCUTTA SCHOOL

  • All grades start Tuesday, Sept. 5.
