Starkville's Braylon Burnside is Mississippi State football's third 4-star commitment of the day
STARKVILLE — Braylon Burnside, a 247Sports Composite four-star athlete and the sixth-ranked player in Mississippi, is staying home. The Starkville native announced his commitment to Mississippi State football on Tuesday via social media.
Burnside is a 2024 receiver out of Starkville High School whose recruitment has been a priority for MSU and first-year coach Zach Arnett. Mississippi State beat out a top six which featured rival Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Illinois.
Ultimately, Burnside elected to stay put − something he alluded to in an interview with the Clarion Ledger on June 1 at MSU's Big Dawg Clinic.
“I’ve been telling myself, ‘Why not stay home?’ Home would probably be the best decision for me,” Burnside said.

Burnside's commitment comes just hours after MSU landed two four-star prospects in cornerback PJ Woodland and receiver JJ Harrell. With the additions of Harrell, Woodland and Burnside, Arnett's 2024 class has five four-star prospects.
Defensive lineman Terrance Hibbler and quarterback Josh Flowers are the other two. The Bulldogs have already surpassed their mark of four four-star prospects in the previous class.
