South Carolina guard Brea Beal declared for the WNBA Draft on Tuesday.

Beal took to social media to make her announcement.

“My time as a Gamecock has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for all the love and support I have received from the Fams,” she wrote.

“That said, I am excited to announce that I am declaring for the 2023 WNBA Draft.”

Beal is known as a defensive stopper for South Carolina, as she often guards the best perimeter player on each team and keeps players below their scoring averages.

Her offensive game also made a big jump in the 2022-23 season, as she shot a career-high 38% from 3-point range.

Beal averaged 6.1 points and five rebounds in 138 games at South Carolina.

She was an Associated Press All-American honorable mention this season and was named to the SEC All-Defensive First Team.

Beal is the second Gamecock to declare for the draft, with forward Aliyah Boston announcing her intentions on Saturday. Boston is considered the top overall prospect in the WNBA Draft, and most projections have her going No. 1 overall to the Indiana Fever.

CBS Sports’ mock draft also projects Beal to land with the Fever at No. 7 overall.

Guard Zia Cooke, forward Laeticia Amihere and guard Olivia Thompson are the other four-year seniors who still have not made an official announcement. All three players have a remaining year of eligibility.

The 2023 WNBA Draft is scheduled for Monday, April 10 (7 p.m., ESPN).
