South Bend Cubs to kick off baseball season April 8 at Four Winds Field
The South Bend Cubs will kick off their season in April, despite the labor dispute involving their parent club and the rest of Major League Baseball.
Opening Day at Four Winds Field in South Bend will be April 8, and the team plans to play a full 132-game schedule this year. Players and coaches will take part in spring training in Arizona, and then travel to South Bend on April 4 to get ready for the minor-league season.
There's no such good news for the Major League teams, where the first week of games has already been canceled as owners and players try to negotiate a new contract.
Single-game tickets for the South Bend Cubs will go on sale on March 9 at noon. They will be available at the Four Winds Field box office; by phone at (574) 235-9988; or online.
Job fair
Ahead of the season, the Cubs will hold a job fair on Wednesday (March 2), from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Pepsi Stadium Club at Four Winds Field.
The team is looking for hospitality hosts, custodians, warehouse attendants, cashiers and other positions.
