Sophomore Elsa Morrison of Farragut wins Tennessee Gatorade Softball Player of the Year

Sophomore Elsa Morrison has been named the 2022-23 Gatorade Tennessee Softball Player of the Year and becomes the first Farragut softball player to earn the honor.

The catcher transferred to Farragut from Carmel High School in Indiana this season and led the Lady Admirals to a 33-7 record and an appearance in the Class 4A state tournament.

By winning player of the year honors for the state, Morrison becomes a finalist for the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award that is set to be announced later this month.

This season, the 5-foot-11 Morrison had a .617 batting average, a school-record 23 home runs, 52 runs scored, 71 RBIs and 16 doubles. She was walked 51 times and struck out only twice while posting a .757 on-base percentage and a 1.543 slugging percentage. She also allowed only four stolen bases out of 11 attempts when she was catching this season.
